Pasta, as it should be

At Arlo, we take pasta seriously. Every shape - silky tagliatelle, marvellous macaroni and frilly mafaldine all made fresh in our kitchen each morning, using quality semolina and free range eggs sourced from local producers.

Our pasta dishes change with the seasons, built around what's best right now: whether that's a rich slow-cooked ragù in winter or a bright, tomato-spiked sauce in summer. We've been obsessing over the details since day one.

Pair it with a glass from our carefully chosen wine list - heavy on local producers with a good selection of International showstoppers - and you'll understand why locals and visitors keep coming back.

The best seat on the bay

We're right on the Portarlington waterfront, with panoramic views across Port Phillip Bay — on a clear day you can see Melbourne. It's the kind of setting that makes lunch stretch into late afternoon.

Portarlington sits at the tip of the Bellarine Peninsula, an easy day trip from Geelong (20 minutes) or the Surf Coast (20 minutes). It's also a short ferry ride from Melbourne via Port Phillip ferries making Arlo a natural stop for visitors exploring the region.

Whether you're staying at Point Lonsdale, Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove or just passing through — Arlo is worth the drive.

A list worth drinking through

Our wine list is built around one idea: wines that taste like somewhere. You'll find boutique producers from the Bellarine and beyond, alongside classic European bottles chosen because they drink beautifully with pasta.

We pour by the glass and the bottle, and our team loves talking wine, whether you want a recommendation or just want to trust us to pour something you'll love.

Browse the full list before you arrive, or leave it to us on the night.

Portarlington's best restaurant for a long lunch or relaxed dinner

Arlo Pasta & Wine is widely considered the best restaurant on the Bellarine Peninsula for those who want something a step above the ordinary. Sitting right on the Portarlington waterfront, we offer a dining experience that combines handmade pasta, a thoughtful natural wine list, and some of the most spectacular views across Port Phillip Bay you'll find at any restaurant in the region.

If you're visiting from Geelong, we're just 20 minutes along the Bellarine Highway - a perfect weekend lunch destination. Travelling along the Surf Coast or staying in Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, or Point Lonsdale? Arlo is an easy detour that rewards the drive. We're also accessible by seasonal ferry from Melbourne, making us a natural first stop for visitors exploring the peninsula.

We open Wednesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sunday for lunch - so there's plenty of opportunity to find us. Walk-ins are welcome, though we recommend booking a table to secure a window seat with the view.
